Future Landscape II

The series of wall reliefs was inspired by satellite images of the Aral Sea. As a result of human agriculture, this huge lake, which was a thriving lake just a few decades ago, is now a barren sandy desert with isolated shallow puddles and rusting fishing boats lying on the bottom. The riverbeds that fed the Aral Sea were diverted to irrigate crop fields. The ecosystem that had existed for millennia was irreversibly altered. Thinking about the future, I imagined that, as demand for food increases, other bodies of water that we know could suffer a similar fate. What will the surface of our planet look like then? “Future Landscapes ” – images of a gloomy future, architectural models of a non-existent landscape.
